    took 1 512 sdram out of it

    1024 ram left...

    windows boots up! but get all kinda errors?????????????????
    re installed windows 98 but that didn't helped. Explorer keeps on crashing all kinda other programs and got vxd errors.

    took another 512 mb sdram out...... now windows 98 is working properly again but i didnt bought the 1 gig for nuttin !!

    dang it putted a 256 mb in it now im running on 768 memory sdram 133 mhz still no trouble!! but i want to run on 1 gig or 1.5 gig!!! what is wrong? is it windows 98 that is just buggy?

    re-checked my asus a7v motherboard, it can handle till 1536 sdram or vdram!!!

    so is it my hardware or my windows version ???? who knows!!

              98 dosnt support so much ram..... If I remember right it only support 512

              xp / nt os does support all that ram you want
              .

                  may you are running with different sets of ram...

                  or maybe your motherboard dosnt approve the ram you have bought

                  or maybe .......

                  or ..

                      Tricky but no problem at all....

                      Insert in your system.ini the following lines:

                      [vcache]
                      minfilecache=524288
                      maxfilecache=524288
                      mincachefile=8192
                      maxcachefile=8192

                      minfilecache sets your disk-cache to 512 Mb (Max. amount for Windows 98) and mincachefile sets your icon-cache to 8 mb...

                      Now Windows 98 will work fine, although i'm not sure if it will also work with Windows XP...

                      Good luck,

                      Hans

                        Sort of off the subject but...

                        Hey guys

                        Just an after thought, i bought 256 RAM the other week for my pc, the best and cheapest site i could find was http://www.crucial.com
                        Very easy site to use, typed in the manufacture, model number of the pc and hey presto!
                        Ordered it on a Monday afternoon, it arrived the next day in a nice little box with good instuctions, fitted it in 2mins.

                        All systems go

                          a problem with the rims are that old mb's wont suport em i had the same prob till i bought a new mb'witch did also you could try updating bios or something (never tried that but hell who knows)
                          but i think that youre mb might have trouble with the rims.
