  • PSN Facing Connectivity Issues Again [UPDATE]

    [UPDATE] And....we're back.
Network connectivity is being restored. Thanks for your patience.
    — PlayStation (@PlayStation) August 26, 2014
    The original story is below.
Just a day after the PlayStation Network was brought back online after a DDoS attack over the weekend, the online service is yet again facing issues. A tweet from the official PlayStation Twitter account explains that unspecified "connectivity issues" have flared up, and Sony is working on a fix.
"Network update: engineers are aware of connectivity issues, are working to resolve. We'll keep you posted," Sony said. "Apologies for the inconvenience." The extent of the connectivity problems is unknown. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
A group of hackers took responsibility over the weekend for launching a DDoS attack on the PSN, though no personal information was compromised, Sony says. The same group that targeted the PSN also claimed responsibility for the bomb threat that made American Airlines ground a flight Sunday carrying Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley. The FBI is currently investigating the case.
The DDoS attack also caused Sony to delay Monday's previously scheduled PSN maintenance. No new date for the maintenance has been announced.
