  • Valve's Shipping Vive VR Headsets to Developers

Valve is now shipping developer editions of it's Vive virtual reality headset, the company has announced.
"This first wave includes a wide range of developers from major movie studios, triple A developers, to small indie teams working on their first title. We will continue to ship to additional developers through the spring and summer," Valve said.
The box developers are getting includes two "Lighthouse base station," which you place around you in the room in order to detect motion and positions. It also includes two wireless Steam VR controllers that look and feel a lot like PlayStation's Move controller, as well as various cables, instructions, and everything else you need to get started.
This, Valve said, will allow developers to target the same consumer version of the device the company said players will be able to buy later this year.
If you're interested in how the development community is taking to Valve's virtual reality headset, you can follow along on the Steam VR Hardware Group.
So far, we've seen only a handful of developers make games for the Vive headset, like Owlchemy Labs, which is working on Job Simulator.
Oculus, by comparison, recently announced that it plans to launch the consumer model of the Oculus Rift in early 2016, and that with a new computer that meets its system requirements, it should cost around $1500.
