  • Marvel's Iron Fist TV Show Finds its Showrunner, Plot Synopsis Revealed

After months of build-up, Marvel's Jessica Jones arrived on Netflix last month, to much acclaim. Attention has now turned to another of the streaming giant's upcoming Marvel shows--Iron Fist.
According to Comicbook.com, Scott Buck will act as showrunner on the series--Buck has previously worked as a producer on such hits as Dexter and Six Feet Under. Iron Fist will be the fourth collaboration between Marvel and Netflix, following Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the upcoming Luke Cage.
Marvel has also released synopsis for the show, which is expected to air in 2017. It reads: "Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist."
Earlier this year, it was rumoured that the show was facing some development issues, in particular how to balance out the character's mystical elements with the more realistic world of Netflix's other Marvel shows. However, in an interview with CBR last month, Marvel Television chief Jeph Loeb confirmed that the show was definitely moving ahead. "There was a lot of speculation about what was going on with Iron Fist, because [the fans] hadn’t heard anything about it, but there’s never been any change at all,” he said.
It is expected that once Iron Fist is released, all four of Netflix's Marvel characters will team up for a Defenders show. Season two of Daredevil is set for a spring 2016 release, while Luke Cage will appear later in the year.
