    Here's a recap of the week's biggest stories and some you may have missed.


    Kojima World Tour


    Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima is currently on a world tour with PS4 lead architect Mark Cenry. Their task? To find the "newest technology," potentially to be used in Kojima's next game. Also, Kojima has asked fans whether or not he should have his beard. [Full story]


    Block Santos


    A group of incredibly ambitious Minecraft players are remaking the entirety of GTA V inside of the Minecraft. The project has been in development for a year now. You can see how it's shaping up here.


    Mortal Kombat XL


    NetherRealm has announced a new version of 2015 fighting game Mortal Kombat X. The XL Edition, as it's being called, will launch in March, featuring the base game and all its previously release DLC. [Full story]


    Xbox One System Update


    The Xbox One's first major update of 2016 has arrived! Preview Program members can test it out right now, and it should be available for everyone else in February. Check out this post to see a rundown of everything the update adds/changes.


    Rise of the Tomb Raider DLC


    Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, the first story-driven expansion for Rise of the Tomb Raider, will launch on January 26, Microsoft announced this week. It'll be available that day on Xbox One and Xbox 360; it will also be available for the PC version when it launches on January 28. [Full story]


    Destiny 2 Delayed?


    According to Kotaku, Destiny 2--the rumored full sequel to the first Destiny--will not make it out this fall as earlier documents suggested. For more on this story, be sure to read the full Kotaku report.


    Update!


    Soccer-with-cars game Rocket League is getting its first patch of 2016 in February, Psyonix has announced. You can learn more about the patch here. Rocket League's Xbox One version also arrives in February.



    New Doom


    Game Informer has a super-cool feature up now about the new Doom and how id Software is embracing the franchise's legacy and also pushing things forward in a meaningful way.

    Creepy!


    All manner of awesome--and creepy--merchandise for Scott Cawthon's indie hit Five Nights at Freddy's has been announced. Check out a gallery here. A movie based on the horror series is also in the works



    Still Alive?


    Microsoft's Xbox One game Phantom Dust may be alive still. On January 13, Microsoft filed a new trademark for the game, suggesting work may be continuing on the project.

    Even More Rocket Birds


    Rocketbirds is getting a sequel. It's called Rocketbirds Evolution and you can read all about it here on the PlayStation Blog.




    John Smedley, the former SOE/Daybreak boss who is now running a indie studio that just announced its first game on Kickstarter, has responded to fan questions in an AMA on subjects like microtransactions, the game's origins, and a lot more.



    What were the most-downloaded and top-earning mobile games of 2015? App Annie has now released its 2015 retrospective report--and, you guessed it, Clash of Clans leads the way. [Full story]





    GDC organizers this week released the results of its annual developer summer. The numbers (a poll of 2,000 North American developers) shows that console game development is flat-lining, while interest in VR is surging. You can read the full report here.


    Valve VR, Explained

    Day of Infamy


    World War II game Insurgency is getting big, community-created mod called Day of Infamy. You can watch the first gameplay footage from the mod here on YouTube.
    “Day of Infamy marks a turning point for Insurgency's development," creative director Andrew Spearin said in a statement. "It's the manifestation of several years' work creating a tactical shooter platform that can be modified into an entirely new era, while maintaining the core gameplay that Insurgency is renowned for."


    Raw Data


    VR gaming company Survios will showcase its upcoming two-player VR game Raw Data today, January 23, at the VRLA Winter Expo in Los Angeles. You can watch the reveal tonight live on Twitch. The show starts at 8:15 PM PST.
