Well i lost my shitty job at sainsburys by playing to much ,which lead to my new job which has even longer hours.
And the Mrs kicked me out twice, and my mum was mad cause i left her 40th party to come practice :P
have you seen the video by area 41 ( Ten Reasons you play Wolfenstein Too much)
Wow,
There are times when I just need to play. Like when i got my new computer and when i got the cable modem. 25+ hrs a week for about a month. Then whap, My better half "You've been palying too much. First comment "It's OK" then reality check. "YES I HAVE BEEN PLAYING TOO MUCH!!!"
Take it down to 2 - 3 nights a week and 1 all nighter a month. Remove from work computer as penalty and stop using game quotes to people I talk to.
Moderation - For me it's hard started with PONG, Atari 4 game PONG, Atari 2600, so on and so on. Video game technician didn't help, All nighters at arcades, Cyberball tourneys... blah blah blah... Who wants to start a gaming support group!!!
Is it the rush, the fun, the friends or just getting away??
Anyone ever feel guilty about getting a friend into gaming and then have them go way overboard on it???
Justification??? I don't drink, don't know how to smoke and never touched drugs.
But it can still be a fix.

I know where I am concerning where I was, things always look better depending on how far you look back.
but as you said... I think its all about getting away from a bored/ shitty life ... get the chance to be somebody else.
According to that friend thing you mentioned - Ive had it the other way around. Decided to become a friend 6 years ago with a lonely freak in highschool ... guess you sometimes needs to help those other people won't talk with ... showed that life was other things that computer.
Ironic ... now it was my turn to feel the shitty side of being to dependent on my computer.
