  • God Of War PS4 Review: Here's When You'll See The Scores

Curious about the new God of War game for PlayStation 4? Reviews for the action game will start to come online this Thursday, April 12, at 12:01 AM PT, we can confirm. That's more than a week ahead of the game's launch on April 20, so you should have a good amount of time to look over reviews to think about if you want to pick the game up.
Sony finished developing the new God of War in March, so the company was able to get the title in the hands of reviewers well ahead of launch. Keep checking back with GameSpot for lots more on the game, including our review and further written and video coverage.
The new God of War is a reboot of sorts for the series. Unlike past games, this one tells a Norse mythology story and is set in Scandinavia. Not only is the setting new, but Kratos is battling trolls and other monsters alongside his son, Atreus.
The game has a father/son dynamic and will show a softer side of Kratos while also keeping with the tradition of brutal savagery and violence. The game is rated M for Mature by the ESRB, and you can expect some heavy killing. Here's a notable line from the rating's description:
"Larger enemies and bosses are dispatched in more intense sequences of violence: Kratos slashing and stabbing a dragon's tongue; a character using an axe to hook and tear off an ogre's jaw. During one sequence, players decapitate (off-screen) an imprisoned character and carry the severed head around; headless corpses also appear in other scenes. The words 'f**k' and 'a*shole' appear in the dialogue."
