  • Netflix's Arrested Development Season 5 Trailer Announces Premiere Date--And It's Ver

Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz wasn't kidding when he said Season 5 of the series was just around the corner. Mere days after premiering the remixed version of Season 4 on Netflix, the streaming service has announced Arrested Development is coming back very soon.
A trailer for the new season reveals it will return on May 29, while also giving some hints at the insanity that awaits the Bluth family's return. According to the trailer, a big portion of the new season sees the Bluths looking to win the Family of the Year award, which should be easy given their company is the one that gives it away. They're hoping the award helps Lindsay (Portia de Rossi) as she embarks on a run for congress--yes, really. The Bluths want to make America... something.
However, another big question remains. At the end of Season 4--which first debuted on Netflix in 2013--Lucille Austero (Liza Minnelli) was missing and Buster (Tony Hale) was arrested for her murder. While the trailer clearly shows him no longer under arrest, the whereabouts of Lucille number two remains a mystery.
The return of Arrested Development sees the show's entire cast coming back together, hopefully sharing more screen time with one another than in Season 4--something the new trailer pokes fun at. Interestingly, that cast includes Jeffrey Tambor, who was fired from the Amazon Prime series Transparent in the wake of sexual harassment accusations. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tambor continues to deny the claims, but does admit he was difficult to work with on the set, even yelling at producers at times.
There's still a few weeks before the fifth season of Arrested Development arrives, just enough time to get in a rewatch if you want to familiarize yourself with the Bluth clan once again. Also head over to VoteBluth.com to learn more about the "prestigious" Family of the Year award the family is vying for. Then get ready for their further adventures on May 29. Maybe the new season will explain that Avengers: Infinity War pseudo-crossover.
