  • WWE Summerslam 2018 Rumors: Intercontinental Championship May Get Additions

Where are you going to be on Sunday, August 19? Will you be out in the sun, enjoying a beverage by the beach or will you be inside all day watching a WWE PPV? If you're a wrestling fan, chances are you'll be watching Summerslam on the WWE Network.
For the fourth year in a row, the WWE event will be taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The show will start at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT with a Kickoff Show starting two hours prior on the WWE Network. This year's event is going to be jam-packed, as there are 12 matches already on the card, and there's a good possibility--if the rumors are correct--there will be even more, which will really screw up our predictions.
And there are plenty of rumors about the show, including the fact that the current card isn't the final card. Here are the Summerslam rumors from industry insiders, but keep in mind that these are just rumors and not confirmations. We'll keep you updated with any more rumors as the week continues.
    Longest PPV Ever

This will be one of the longest PPV of the year. Currently, on the WWE Network, the service has 6.5 hours blocked off for Summerslam and the Kickoff show. It could easily run longer than that though, especially if WWE keeps adding matches to the card. Earlier this year, Wrestlemania 34 came in at a little more than 7 hours in total.
    Walk With Elias

Although it hasn't been booked yet, you can expect to see a last minute booking of Elias vs. Bobby Lashley, most likely on the Kickoff Show. WWE has been building to a match between the two for weeks and the Kickoff is the only place it fits.
    Asuka Didn't Quit

Asuka might be added to the triple threat match for the Smackdown Women's Championship. There have been rumors that she quit the company recently, but those have been put to rest as she'll appear on Smackdown on August 14. (via Slicewrestling)
    Return Of The Lunatic Fringe?

Could Dean Ambrose return at Summerslam? He's been on the injured list for quite some time, but he's apparently coming back to WWE sometime soon, possibly just in time for Summerslam. That could mean Seth Rollins could have someone by his side while fighting off Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. (via PWInsider)
Spicing Up The IC Title Match

Apparently, the only potential match change being mentioned by name right now is Rollins vs. Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship. Could McIntyre and maybe even Ambrose be added to this bout? (via WrestleVotes)
More Changes Coming To The Card

Because fans have said the summer event lacks excitement, there is a plan to change the card a bit leading up to Summerlsam. Multiple matches will be affected. (via Cagesideseats)
Make sure to come back to GameSpot on Sunday, August 19 for live coverage of Summerslam.
