  • Thor: Ragnarok Star Cast In Live-Action Lady And The Tramp Movie Remake

Tessa Thompson--who plays Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok and Cash's girlfriend Detroit in Sorry to Bother You--has been cast as the voice of Lady in Disney's upcoming live-action movie remake of Lady and the Tramp. Her co-star Justin Theroux was previously cast for the voice of Tramp.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is directed by Charlie Bean, who's previously been at the helm for movies like The Lego Batman Movie and The Lego Ninjago Movie and also written episodes for television series like Samurai Jack and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Lady and the Tramp's script is being written by Andrew Bujalski and the movie is being overseen by Disney's VP of production Jessica Virtue and creative executive Chaz Salembier.
Several of the movie's other characters have already been cast. Scottish Terrier Jackie is voiced by Gnomeo & Juliet's Ashley Jensen, English bulldog Bull is voiced by Doctor Strange's Benedict Wong, and Lady's owner Darling is played by Flatliners' Kiersey Clemons.
The original Lady and the Tramp animated movie released in 1955. It told the story of an upscale Cocker Spaniel named Lady meeting a stray mongrel called Tramp. The two come from very different worlds and must overcome several hurdles on the road to love. The movie is most well-known for a segment where Tramp and Lady enjoy a spaghetti dinner behind an Italian restaurant, a scene that has been alluded to in other films and television series.
Lady and the Tramp is scheduled to debut on Disney's upcoming streaming service, which is currently expected to launch sometime in 2019.
