Believe it or not, Nintendo's curious new 2DS handheld actually only has one screen.The tablet-sized device's twin displays are formed of one screen split into two by the 2DS' plastic casing, USgamer reports.
Nintendo's decision to manufacture the device this way was based on a desire to cut costs. Simply put, it's cheaper to create one larger screen and cover up the bits that aren't needed than create two discrete screens.
