  • DayZ Creator Hiring for New Studio

Dean "Rocket" Hall, creator of zombie game DayZ and climber of Mt. Everest, announced today that his new studio will be called RocketWerkz. He's also now hiring, seeking programmers, artists, and other professionals to join him at his Dunedin, New Zealand studio.
Looking for programmers, artists, etc... for my new studio @RocketWerkz. These roles initially based Dunedin, NZ. Email yolo@rocketwerkz.com

Hall announced his departure from DayZ developer Bohemia Interactive earlier this year, remarking at the time: "It's kind of like cooking in someone else's kitchen."

He's not sharing official details yet on RocketWerkz's first game, though he said in a previous interview that some of his new ideas have "similar DNA" to DayZ.
"I feel like DayZ is a fundamentally flawed concept," he said in February. "And I've always recognized that. It's not the perfect game; it's not the multiplayer experience, and it never can be, [with] the absolute spark that I want in it."
The RocketWerkz website is intentionally empty at the moment.
DayZ will move forward without Hall. Bohemia just recently announced a development roadmap for the game, which revealed, among other things, that the final version of the PC title won't be ready until 2016. The game is also coming to consoles.
