  • Metal Gear Solid 5 Gameplay Demo Features Rocket-Powered Arm Missile

Konami has released a lengthy new gameplay video for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, offering another look at its open-world stealth gameplay.
In the video, which you can watch below, Snake embarks on a mission titled "A Hero's Way," in which he is tasked with taking out a Spetsnaz commander.
Snake is joined by Quiet, Diamond Dogs' designated sniper and, along with the usual sneaking, tranquillising, and Fulton-recovering, there's a point where Snake fires his arm, which is powered by rockets, and guides it around a base before slamming it into an enemy soldier.
Fans of the Metal Gear series may remember something similar happening in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, when Vladimir Aleksandrovich Zadornov fired his prosthetic arm at Big Boss.
Kojima previously said Konami was planning to release a video depicting a "different way of infiltration" in the upcoming open-world stealth game. Rocket-arm definitely count as different.
The game's publisher has addressed fears about micro-transactions impacting the Metal Gear Solid V experience by creating a pay-to-win component.
"While it is true that a few microtransactions option due exists, the entire game has been carefully balanced to be fair and enjoyable with or without using these options," Konami said.
"There's no pay to win option. Rest assured that every single item, weapon, and mission in the game is available to all players without paying a single cent."
The Phantom Pain launches worldwide on September 1 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. According to sources, Kojima will leave Konami when the game ships.
