Interested in Assassin's Creed Syndicate? Still cautious about a purchase? We're putting the final touches to our review and will have our full thoughts for you very soon. In the meantime, we thought now was a good opportunity to get up to speed on the series' story so far - especially if you ended up skipping Unity last year.
For those who don't care about the overarching Assassin's Creed storyline, breathe a sigh of relief (but do keep reading): once again, Ubisoft has done a good job of making sure Syndicate can be a standalone experience. It stars another new main character (well, more than one) and a fresh time period. But the whole experience is elevated greatly if you know a little of the series' basic backstory.
So here we are. Eight years of story told over nine major games, a dozen spin-offs, a book series, many graphic novels and an upcoming Michael Fassbender film, all condensed to the basics.
