With Halloween looming large on the horizon, there's really no better time to sink your fangs into a scary game or two. That's why I finally decided to give top-down survival horror game Noct a go.
Noct, which recently launched on Steam's early access program, plays out through the eye of a distant thermal imaging camera; think helicopter footage from police shows like Road Wars and you're there. It's a unique visual twist in a genre that normally employs first or third person viewpoints to ratchet up the tension and bring you face-to-face with your fears.
Despite the distance, watching the action through the eyes of a far-off observer doesn't do much to calm your nerves and, when combined with the haunting soundtrack, it can still deliver a surprise jump scare or two. Or, in my case, six.
