  • Top-Grossing Digital Console, PC, and Mobile Games of July 2016 Revealed

Superdata today published its digital games revenue report for July 2016, revealing what it claims were the highest-grossing console, PC, and mobile games during the month on a global basis. With all areas combined, the worldwide digital games market grew 9.5 percent year-over-year, Superdata found.
As you can see in the chart below, Activision Blizzard games led the way on console and PC, with Call of Duty: Black Ops III (thanks in part to the release of its Descent map pack) and Overwatch coming out on top.
In the free-to-play PC space, League of Legends was No. 1, while World of Warcraft was of course the top pay-to-play MMO. Unsurprisingly, Pokemon Go was the biggest-earner for mobile.
Pokemon Go player figures may be falling now, but Superdata reported that Pokemon Go had the "most successful mobile launch in history." While Pokemon Go is no longer sitting at the top of the iTunes "Free" chart as of August 23, it does remain No. 1 on the "Top Grossing" list, so it's definitely still pulling in money.
There were no specific dollar amounts provided for any games in the chart. Go to Superdata's blog for a deeper dive into the month's digital games revenue figures.
