  • First Sniper Elite 4 Gameplay Video Teases Hitler-Killing Mission

Developer Rebellion has released the first gameplay trailer for Sniper Elite 4. You'll want to stick through to the end, as it also includes a teaser for a Hitler mission titled Target Fuhrer.
Since Sniper Elite V2, Rebellion has included a Hitler-killing bonus mission. In Sniper Elite 4, this mission will see players traveling to a secret U-boat facility to take down the Nazi leader. The mission is playable by 1-2 players and, in addition to killing Hitler, tasks players with destroying the facility. Target Fuhrer is available free for people who preorder Sniper Elite 4.
Sniper Elite 4 picks up in the "immediate aftermath" of 2014's Sniper Elite III and, like that game, is set in World War II. Specifically, Sniper Elite 4 takes place in Italy in 1943. You play as Karl Fairburne, an "elite marksman," who fights alongside the men and women of the Italian Resistance in their battle against fascism and presumably Benito Mussolini.
As you can see in the new trailer, Sniper Elite 4 continues with the theme of being over-the-top as it relates to kill sequences. In some circumstances, when you shoot or stab enemies, the game's camera lets you see inside your foe's body to highlight the kill in an extremely gory fashion.
Sniper Elite 4 runs in native 1080p on PS4 and Xbox One. The studio also pointed out that this is the first entry in the series designed "without the constraints" of last-generation hardware. This should allow Rebellion to create a "definitive World War II shooter," it said. A series of new screenshots were also released today and can be seen in the gallery below.
Sniper Elite 4 comes out on February 14, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It was originally targeted to launch in 2016, before Rebellion delayed it over the summer.
The Sniper Elite series has sold more than 10 million copies.
