  • First Power Rangers Trailer Reveals a More Serious Tone

Casting details and other information about the upcoming Power Rangers reboot movie have been coming out for months, but as part of New York Comic-Con, the movie's first trailer has now been released.
Despite being called a teaser trailer, it clocks in at over two minutes and provides a fairly good impression of the tone it's going for. Based on this first look, it appears to be more serious than you might remember the old TV series being. Check it out above.
The trailer introduces us to the Rangers and briefly explains how they meet before showing how a discovery they make begins to turn them into, essentially, superheroes.
We don't see much in the way of action and only get a very brief glimpse of the movie's villain, a very different-looking Rita Repulsa (played by Elizabeth Banks). There's no sign of the Rangers' Zords, though those were teased in a series of posters recently. The trailer ends with the Rangers beginning to don their outfits, albeit somewhat reluctantly.
Released alongside the trailer are some new posters, which you can check out in the gallery below.
Power Rangers opens in theaters on March 24, 2017. Here's the official synopsis: "Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove--and the world--is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it's too late, band together as the Power Rangers."
At Comic-Con, we also learned that there's apparently a new Power Rangers game on the way, though it was unveiled with seeming no fanfare whatsoever.
