  • Smite and Paladins Oceanic Championships Boast $65,000 Prize

    Hi-Rez Studios, developers of the third-person MOBA Smite and team-based shooter Paladins, have begun ticket sales for the first Hi-Rez Oceania Championships, a regional competitive event featuring the aforementioned games.
    The weekend-long event comprises of two tournaments: The Smite Oceania Championships, and the Paladins Invitational Final. The combined prize pool is $65,000 AUD (approximately $50,000 USD).
    Qualification for the international competition at Hi-Rez Expo in January 2017 is also at stake. The winners of the Smite Oceanic Championships will qualify for the Smite World Championships, which boasts a prize pool of $1,000,000 USD. The winners of the Oceanic Paladins Invitational will go on to compete in the inaugural international Paladins Invitational for a prize pool of $150,000 USD.
    The event will take place at ESL Studios in Sydney, Australia on November 26 and 27, and fans of the games are invited to be part of the event’s live audience, as well as take place in the Hi-Rez Community Night party. Tickets can be purchased from the event page. The event will also be streamed on Twitch.
    Hi-Rez Studios recently updated the console version of Smite, increasing texture resolution in preparation for the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio. It also added a Pokemon Trainer skin for the Erlang Shen character. Paladins has also been confirmed for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
