  • 1v1 "Scare 'Em Up" PC Game From Age of Conan Dev Announced, Watch First Trailer

For the second year in a row, Funcom is launching a spooky game near Halloween. Following creepy horror game The Park last year, the Age of Conan developer today announced a 1v1 "scare 'em up" PC game called Hide and Shriek, which is set to launch through Steam on October 25.
The goal of Hide and Shriek is to scare the other player by using spells and traps, as well as "jump scare" sequences like bats flying out of a cupboard or even Donald Trump's face. Both players are invisible, so they must make use of perceptible clues like doors opening and objects moving through the world to locate each other. Take a look at the video below to see how this works.

According to game director Romain Amiel, Hide and Shriek offers "something new and different." The game will sell for $6 at launch, but it's offered at a 20 percent discount ($4.79) now until then.
It was also confirmed today that Hide and Shriek will be "fully localized" to German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Korean, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
The Park and Hide and Shriek are the result of a new business strategy that Funcom where it will develop "small, experimental, and innovative" games that focus on new concepts and platforms. Funcom said it hopes this strategy will help pull it out of the financial trouble it's in as a result of Lego Minifigures Online's poor performance.
