With the Xbox One on the horizon, what next for Gears of War, the Microsoft exclusive series that helped define HD gaming on Xbox 360?We haven't heard much of Gears since the March 2013 launch of Gears of War: Judgment, which failed to match the sales and impact of previous entries in the series. Series creator Epic Games, which has seen much change over the last year, has so far remained quiet on Marcus Fenix and co as it works on Unreal Engine 4 and Fortnite. Indeed it was subsidiary People Can Fly - not Epic - that did the leg work on Judgment.
With the launch of Xbox One next month, surely it won't be long before Gears grinds again. But according to Microsoft Studios chief Phil Spencer, it sounds like a new game could be a long way off.
