  • Activision's Latest SpongeBob Game Lets You Become A Superhero

Activision is making another SpongeBob game. The Call of Duty publisher today announced SpongeBob: HeroPants, a brand new game based on Nickelodeon's series that will debut on February 3, just days before the release of new SpongeBob movie, Sponge Out of Water, which hits theaters February 6.
The action-platformer is coming to Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation TV. No mention was made of a release for PlayStation 3, current-generation consoles, or PC.
HeroPants takes place after Sponge Out of Water, when SpongeBob must work together with his friends to restore order to his beloved Bikini Bottom. From a press release: "Along the way they'll visit alternate forms of Bikini Bottom as it is warped by SpongeBob's mind into prehistoric, war zone, and candy-coated versions of the town."
The game will include platforming, exploration, puzzles, and combat segments. There will be a total of six playable characters in HeroPants, including SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, Mr. Krabs, and Plankton.
As you can see in the trailer above, each can transform into a hero version with special abilities. Finally, Activision says HeroPants will also include four-player co-op (on Xbox 360 only), as well as boss battles, upgradeable skills, and lots of items to discover.
HeroPants is the latest SpongeBob game from Activision, following 2013's Plankton's Robotic Revenge.
