  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Teaser Breakdown

The next big Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, is right around the corner. Today, the first teaser for the May 2017 film was released (as well as a sweet poster), and the minute-and-a-half video gave us a glimpse into what we can expect from the upcoming film. What does it all mean? We're breaking down every moment from the video to help figure it out.
The trailer opens in a hallway for an unknown spaceship. It seems too large to be the Milano. Towards the end of the shot, the familiar opening to "Hooked on a Feeling" plays in the background.

While spacesuits are for emergencies only, Rocket seems to think they can also be for fun. We're assuming he wrote that in the second shot of the teaser.

We briefly see part of Drax's back, as he keeps himself busy on the ship.

Gamora is walking in a mysterious place, which we learn more about as the trailer goes on.

Star-Lord has his headgear on and his guns out. The location looks a tad reminiscent of Knowhere, the criminal outpost the group went to in the first film, where they met The Collector.

Gamora draws her sword and charges at someone or something, while standing next to a bizarre looking structure. It almost looks like a mini-sun. This may be what the group has to protect for the film. We're sure this item has some significance.

Yondu, who was the leader of the space pirates that Star-Lord worked with (and against) in the first film, walks with Rocket. It seems like Rocket may be messing with the gravity again, possibly breaking Yondu out of prison, which we caught a glimpse of at San Diego Comic-Con this year. Hopefully, he didn't make Yondu grab someone's robotic body part for a laugh.

We get the same shot from the front and while Rocket and Yondu are walking in slow motion, the bodies falling on their left and right are doing so at a slower rate. Does this mean Yondu has joined the team? Why do the Guardians need him? Also, Yondu's red mohawk got a bit taller.

For a brief moment, we see a hooded figure unmasked. It's Nebula, Gamora's sister. The person who unmasks her has black gloves, as does the person holding her down. It's almost military-looking. We get a better look at who these people are a bit later.

Peter Quill looks like he's ready to go into action in the next scene, as he presses a button to put on his helmet.

Star-Lord's helmet is awesome, and he flies off somewhere.

We see Quill flying the Milano in what seems to be a frantic and intense scene.

The ship is firing away, but we don't see any enemies. We also catch a glimpse of what looks like to be the Milano crashing.

There's an explosion and a few military personnel fly into the air. By the look of their outfits, these are the people who captured Nebula. They look like they could be Kree soldiers who were at war with the Xandarians in the first film.

The Milano has crashed, and Gamora, Star-Lord, and Drax are packing their bags.

Gamora looks back at the ship as they walk. This seems to be the planet we saw Gamora on in the opening of the teaser.

Earlier, we saw Star-Lord on what could be Knowhere. We got a shot of him from the front, twirling his guns. He's alone.

Star-Lord and Drax are talking to each other inside a ship. Star-Lord says he's a dancer and Gamora is not. Looks like this film will further the relationship between the two characters.

Drax, an incredibly literal and honest character, tells Star-Lord he needs to find a woman who is like him: pathetic.

Star-Lord thanks him, and Drax asks if he needs a hug. Star-Lord says he doesn't.

Drax awkwardly hugs him anyway and says, "you're welcome," while Star-Lord says, "I thought I said no." The humor is still there, and it's still top-notch.

Rocket shoots someone, and they fall to the floor.

Of course, you can't have Guardians of the Galaxy without Groot, who is an adorable baby. Hopefully, he stays like that for the whole film.
