  • New Star Wars: Rogue One TV Trailer Teases Returning Villain, as Tickets Go on Sale

It's a big day for Star Wars: Rogue One, as Lucasfilm has published a new TV spot for the sci-fi spinoff, while tickets are finally on sale. The latest video is titled " Breath," and contains a mixture of previously seen footage, as well as some new sequences. We also get a closer look at Darth Vader, while one sequence appears to show Grand Moff Tarkin. It was rumored that the villainous character, played by the late Peter Cushing, would appear in some manner. We apparently see Tarkin as he's looking at the Death Star being assembled. Only the back of his head is shown, but is sure looks like him.

Some kind of movie magic may be used to resurrect Cushing for Rogue One, it seems. Effects supervisor John Knoll told Entertainment Weekly that Rogue One will contain some revolutionary visual effects. "I have to tread lightly there because some of the fun bits of innovation are stuff that I've been asked not to talk about yet. You know, we want to hold that back," he teased.
What do you think? Is that Tarkin?Advance tickets for Rogue One are now on sale through ticketing sites such as Fandango. The movie officially opens on Friday, December 16, with a midnight premiere kicking things off.
In other news about Rogue One, box office estimates peg the film at making $130 million or more for its December 16-18 opening weekend in the United States. That would be the second-biggest December US opening in history, behind only 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Rogue One was directed by Godzilla's Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, and Mads Mikkelsen. The story focuses on a band of rebels, led by Jones' Jyn Erso, who are attempting to steal the plans to the Death Star.
More spinoffs are planned, as a film about young Han Solo will come out in 2018, one year after Star Wars: Episode VIII lands in 2017. There are also rumors of a Boba Fett standalone spinoff film.
Star Wars Battlefront is getting Rogue One-themed DLC before the movie's premiere next month. It's called Rogue One: Scarif and adds Jyn Erso and Mendelsohn's Director Orson Krennic as playable Hero characters.
