  • Animal Crossing Mobile Delayed

Nintendo has confirmed that Animal Crossing's mobile entry has been delayed until the next financial year. That means the game's release could fall anytime between April 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018. The game was due to launch in the first quarter of this year.
The reason for the delay is to accommodate both Fire Emblem Heroes and Super Mario Run. Fire Emblem Heroes launches February 2, while Super Mario Run launched for iOS on December 15, 2016, and is due out on Android in March this year.
This isn't Animal Crossing mobile's first delay. It was originally meant to come out in 2016.
Fire Emblem Heroes was also meant to launch last year, but will now launch on February 2. For more, you can read our preview here.
Speaking with GameSpot, Nintendo director Shigeru Miyamoto said Nintendo will continue to focus on crafting original games to mobile, rather than porting old ones. "I don't think we'll take the past Mario games that we've made and just move them over to a mobile platform," he said.
Super Mario Run launched last year, and we enjoyed it. Critic Peter Brown awarded it a 7/10, and you can read all his thoughts in our full Super Mario Run review.
