UPDATE 23RD OCTOBER:Following the announcement of the Super Nt last week, Analogue has announced that the console will include a semi-unreleased game - Super Turrican: Director's Cut. The original Super Turrican was most certainly released but, due to publisher restrictions, the 6 Mbit game was reduced to fit on a 4 Mbit cartridge instead. This may have saved on production costs, but it came at the expense of the game itself. In reducing the size of the game for the smaller cartridge, developer Factor 5 was forced to take a razor to its game and completely remove the final stage and one of its bosses. If you've finished the original Super NES release, this is the reason why its ending felt so abrupt. Thankfully, all these years later, the version that will be included with the Super Nt is the original unreleased 6 Mbit version of the game.
Analogue's Christopher Taber told us, "24 Years later, we're releasing the original Super Turrican -- Super Turrican: Directors Cut, on the same piece of hardware it was intended to be released on. It features a new level with new music, more enemies, better sound effects and graphics and even a new way to use the beam weapon." Beyond the extra level, it will be interesting to see what else the complete version of the game has to offer.
