    Hi Guys

    I get this error message everytime i try and play COD....
    Any ideas?

    looks like aswell as sound files your also missing the config files, u tried reinstalling?

      Error Message "Couldn't Load Default.cfg"

      If you try to run the Call of Duty and receive the error message, "Couldn't Load default.cfg", the game is telling you that it cannot find the \main directory that is part of the Call of Duty

      hmm well it tells you what the problem is
      17 sound file(s) are missing or in a bad format
      so maybe its time to delete and reinstall cod
      did you have a power loss when the pc was on ?
      if you had that it can be the problem
      did you install the game to C ??
      or another hard drive
      if you did it to another hard drive
      look so the files isnt all over your hard drive
      some peps had problems with that

      try to install it again and tell me what happends after that
      but dont forget to save your save files

        Ok, i have tried a re-install, but the problem persists...
        I should have said, that this is the first time the game was installed on this pc.

        Each time i have tried to install the game it 'sticks' at 74%, then starts again after a min or 2.

          I'm fairly sure i have narrowed it down to 1 file...
          'pak2.pk3'

          I have copied all the files over from the Cd's but this is the only file i can't copy over, every time i try and copy it i get an error message - "Cannot copy pak2:data error (cyclic redundancy check)"

            ok what are you using
            cd cdr cd-rw or dvd ??
            eagle had some problems with a game
            he changed his old cdr and got a clean cd rom
            and it worked fine
            how big is that file ??

              well pak2 is 157mb so u can ask someone with cod to send it ya, or download a copy burt use your proper cdkey etc

                  My probl. was that the cdr was reading way to slow...but that fixed now. :-)
