Nexus 4 Demand Through the Roof, Ebay Imposes Sale Ceiling for Non-Authorized Sellers

Google's recently launched Nexus 4 smartphone is apparently turning out to be this holiday season's hottest handset. At the very least, Google is having trouble keeping up with demand. After resuming online orders the other day, users who purchase the 8GB from Google Play are looking at waiting 8-9 weeks for the device to ship, while the 16GB model ships out in 6-7 weeks. That means the calendar could flip a year before it actually arrives, if you order today. Demand is so hot that Ebay is limiting the number of Nexus 4 devices some users are allowed to sell.
Here are the new guidelines, as they pertain to the Nexus 4:

• Authorized resellers will be allowed to list an unlimited number of items per week.
• Ebay Top Rated Sellers will be allowed to list up to 8 items per week.
• All sellers meeting minimum performance standards will be allowed to list 4 items per week.
• New sellers who've confirmed their personal information may list 1 item per week.

Sellers who don't meet the minimum performance standards or haven't confirmed their personal information will not be allowed to list Nexus 4 devices on Ebay during the post-launch sales period, the auction site said. Furthermore, those selling Nexus 4-related domain names or email addresses are limited to up to 4 listings per week.
The Nexus 4 is proving popular because of its powerful hardware (not the least of which is a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor), untouched Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software (no funky UI overlays), and relatively low price tag (for an unlocked device).
