HP Omen Pro is a Mobile Workstation Dressed Like a Gaming Laptop

If it looks like a duck but barks like a dog, what is it?

We were really impressed with Hewlett-Packard's Omen laptop when we reviewed it last year. With a design that paid homage to its Voodoo PC namesake, the model we received proved a capable gaming machine wrapped in a sexy chassis with a beautiful touchscreen panel. Well, there's a new version available, though HP's Omen Pro is classified as a mobile workstation, perhaps making it more suitable for game developers than gamers.
It looks like there are two versions currently available to order. The first costs $2,199 and includes an Intel Core i7 4720HQ processor, 8GB of DDR3-1600 RAM, 256GB Z Turbo Drive PCIe SSD, Nvidia Quadro K1100M graphics, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 15.6-inch Full HD 1080p touchscreen panel, backlit keyboard, four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI output, mini DisplayPort, headset jack, and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
A second model runs $2,599 and doubles the RAM to 16GB and storage to 512GB. Otherwise, it's the same machine, which itself looks nearly identical to the original Omen except that the Pro models have red vents on the back and the hinges lack blue colored tinting.
