Shenmue 3 is coming back, with Yu Suzuki and publisher ININ Games announcing the Enhanced edition. The reworked and tweaked version of the 2020 game will be arriving on PS5 and PC as before, but also hitting Xbox and Nintendo consoles (TBC, but I think it's probably safe to say that'll be Switch 2 rather than the original Switch).

Battlefield 6 has run its last open beta. This, obviously, is a tragedy. How else am I meant to spend my weekends? Where else can I drive around with four loads of C4 strapped to the boot, or engage in high-flying aerial duels? Well, there's always Battlefield 2042.

What do we actually mean, when we call a game rewarding? I reckon typically it's one of two things. First you have games that reward you for playing them well: rewards are given in return for achievement or superlative skill – a new outfit, a Legendary Cuirass, a skill point or two. Then you have the ones where you're awarded simply for playing the game at all, that kind of external stimulus for engagement. The Skinner box method, basically, where you get daily bonuses for everything from simply logging in to maxing out your battle pass. What Sword of the Sea reminded me, as I lanced my way through desert dunes, 720'd my way across cliff edges, nosedived off a mountain face, or just awkwardly bunny hopped my way along a ledge I wasn't sure I was actually meant to climb, is that there's a third way. A game that rewards you neither for just playing nor for playing well, but for playing it right.

PC gamers who are hoping Capcom updates Monster Hunter Wilds to improve performance will have to wait a little longer. A statement made on X.com via the official Monster Hunter account has told players that improvements are coming, but not until this winter.

Hollow Knight: Silksong looks increasingly likely to be shown off in some form this evening at Gamescom Opening Night Live. Show host and producer Geoff Keighley tweeted a selfie while wearing a red nose, heavily pointing towards the game showing up at ONL tonight.

Do you remember the first time you gazed upon Liurnia of the Lakes in Elden Ring? I do. That was when the titanic scale of FromSoftware's magnum opus hit me: pools of glinting water stretched as far as the eye could see; mist curled around endless rock formations. Such was the sheer massiveness of the space, I felt as if I was being swallowed whole by it, experiencing a kind of horizontal vertigo. Momentarily, I felt the need to step back, to root myself in safe and familiar ground. But the pull of this virtual world was undeniable: it beckoned.

It's been a busy couple of week in Nintendo presentation land. First we had that third-party-focused partner showcase, then it was the turn of the indies, leaving everyone to speculate that a proper Direct showcase much surely be on the way. And, well, here we are, sort of. Today's 45-minute Direct is apparently focused exclusively on Switch 2's upcoming Kirby Air Riders - and if that appeals, here's where you'll be able to watch it unfold.

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have released a brand new trailer for the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A, plus detailed how the new Link Battles work.
Every month Xbox gives and and it takes. While we get new games added to Xbox Game Pass throughout each month, in the middle and the end of the month we also see a bunch of games leave the service.
Cult hit Euro Truck Simulator 2 is seemingly coming to PS5 and Xbox consoles. The news comes via PSN and Xbox store listings for the game, which is yet to be officially announced for the two consoles.
Developer Herobeat has announced its next game, Rewilders: The Lost Spring, which has been inspired by the works of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli films.

Gears of War creator Cliff 'CliffyB' Bleszinski is "thrilled" more people will be able to experience the original game when it arrives on PlayStation.
The games set to leave PlayStation Plus Extra in September have been revealed. The eight titles include some very good games, so you might want to make some time before 16th September to get them played.
