        Update;

        Ok i have now worked out what my problem is...

        My Dell motherboard-BIOS does not support the Audigy 2 sound card.

        But Dell recently up released a BIOS update to solve this issue... A06

        The only problem is i can't get it to install

        AAAAArrrrrrgggggh

        Why can things with PC's never be simple?

        Ggggrrrr

          many machines have you seen with other makes of soundcards which use creative drivers?

          plus its only certain dell motherboards which dont liek teh audigy because it ries to get more data than the machine gives it..

            well first
            on the bios upgrade do they use a windows utility program to flash update the bios
            if they just supply the bios .bin file then you need to make a bootup disk via floppy put the flasher progam and bios bin file on the disc
            set your first boot device to floppy save and exit
            then when the boot up disc is done loading type the flash program name such as for award flash its awdflash etc
            then follow the screen instructions

            i dont suggest doing this yourself if you dont trust yourself
            cuz if you screw up
            you render your motherboard a brick then
