  • Grand Theft Auto V for PC Sees New Screenshots, System Requirements, and a Delay

    Rockstar giveth and taketh away

We don't want to come off as curmudgeons halfway through the first month of a new year, so let's start by focusing on the good news surrounding Grand Theft Auto V for PC. For one, Rockstar Games today shared the first screenshots of GTA V for PC, which were taken at 4K. And secondly, the developer has given gamers a heads up about the minimum and recommended specifications.
To run the game, you'll need the following:
    • OS: Windows 8/8.1 64-bit, Windows 7 64-bit SP1, Windows Vista 64-bit SP2 (Rockstar Games recommends running an Nvidia graphics card if running Windows Vista)
    • CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4GHz / AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core CPU @ 2.5GHz
    • RAM: 4GB
    • Video Card: Nvidia 9800 GT 1GB / AMd HD 4870 1GB (DX10 or above)
    • Sound Card: 100 percent DirectX 10 compatible
    • HDD Space: 65GB

And here are the recommended specifications:
    • OS: Windows 8/8.1 64-bit, Windows 7 64-bit SP1,
    • CPU: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2GHz / AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4GHz
    • RAM: 8GB
    • Video Card: Nvidia GTX 660 2GB / AMD HD 7870 2GB
    • Sound Card: 100 percent DirectX 10 compatible
    • HDD Space: 65GB

Ah, but while it's nice to see some screenshots and learn what kind of hardware we'll need to wreak havoc GTA V, we feel as though these revelations served to soften the blow of a two-month delay. While initially scheduled to release this month, Rockstar says the new release date is March 24, 2015.
"Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be," Rockstar stated in a blog post. "Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March."
We're okay with the reasoning behind the delay -- who wants a buggy game at launch? -- but what's unfortunate is that PC players are always invited to the GTA party long after its gotten started. In this case, GTA V first launched to PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17, 2013, followed by a release to PS4 and Xbox One on November 18, 2014.
So here's the question of the day -- is anyone still excited about GTA V on PC, or has too much time elapsed?
