  • Next Windows Server, System Center Products Will Arrive in 2016

Multiple preview releases coming in 2015

The next versions of Windows Server and System Center management suite are already under development, Microsoft reminded everybody in a blog post Friday, adding it has further preview releases planned for 2015 (the first previews of the two products were released in October). But don’t hold out hope for Microsoft releasing the finished versions anytime soon.
The Redmond-based company, which had been curiously quiet on the subject of late, finally ended its silence on Friday with a blog post titled “Windows Server and System Center roadmap update.” Beginning this spring, the company will release a bunch of preview versions of the next iteration of Windows Server and System Center management suite, with the final products following sometime in 2016. There will be one exception, though: the next version of System Center Configuration Manager will arrive alongside Windows 10 later this year.
This is how Microsoft explained the delay in a statement it sent to ZDNet: “In order to build out these investments and take the time needed, we believe that allowing for adequate customer and partner feedback and participation is critical. Accordingly, we have decided to deliver a series of high-quality preview releases through this calendar year along with investments to accelerate at-scale customer deployments.”
