AMD is looking to disrupt the mainstream GPU market with its RX 9060 XT in the same way that its xx70 class products caused so many problems for Nvidia's RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti. The formula is remarkably straightforward: attack the entry-level RTX 5060 by offering a similarly 8GB-equipped product with a lot more performance for the same price: $299. Meanwhile, AMD's ambitions for its 16GB alternative are laudable. It may not be as fast as the RTX 5060 Ti, but it's not that far off and it costs a whole lot less: $350 vs $430. In the UK, the RX 9060 XT prices are different, of course, with suggested retail prices of £270 for the 8GB model and £315 for the 16GB card.

I normally hate talking about video games in terms of how much money they're worth, but with Welcome Tour - and against the backdrop of video games' wider squeeze on its audience - that discussion feels unavoidable. To get it out of the way: Welcome Tour feels like a pack-in game, and after the news broke that it would, instead, cost you actual money to play this seemingly staid, interactive console manual - one that seemed pretty similar to the free, pack-in Astro's Playroom on PS5 - there was a very understandable reaction. That being: this game is probably not going to do very well.

Nintendo is currently in full swing gearing up for the launch of Switch 2, and part of that has seen the company update a number of its original Switch games for the newer model. While many of these updates are along the lines of 'added support', Nintendo has gone a bit further with Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - there's finally a more streamlined way to find favourite Echoes no matter which console you play on.

With Nintendo Switch 2 arriving with us just a day before release, there's little time for Digital Foundry to put together any kind of comprehensive coverage - but there are a number of system features I was curious to test out, none more important than backwards compatibility. Would Switch 2 improve performance running Switch 1 games? The first game I tested was Batman: Arkham Knight, described by DF's Oliver Mackenzie as "the worst performing software I have reviewed to date at Digital Foundry". 18 months on he says it still is - but the good news is that Switch 2 fixes all of its performance issues, at times doubling performance. Put simply, Switch 1 games do run better on Switch 2.

The time has come to celebrate the second anniversary of
There comes a time when all consoles must make that final journey to the Grey Havens. Sometimes the Havens are the loft. Other times they're eBay or the eager clutches of a younger sibling. That's the idea, anyway. There's something new on the way. One in, one out.
In the summer sun, we'll be having some fun… with our first batch of June's Xbox Game Pass titles.
