Now, in an interview on Japanese talk show Byking (thanks Automaton Media), Mikami has discussed his decision in more detail.

Apple has announced a refresh of its iPad line-up, introducing, among other things, a 13-inch iPad Air and the company's first-ever OLED iPad model.

As revealed during today's Let Loose event, Apple's most substantial iPad makeover has been reserved for its top-end iPad Pro, which now features a "tandem" OLED display capable of 1,600 nits for HDR content. It's paired with Apple's M4 chip - promising up to 50 percent faster CPU and four times faster rendering performance - plus camera changes and a slimmer design.

This new iPad Pro, available in silver or Space Grey, shifts the front-facing 12-megapixel camera to the side so it's centred while in landscape mode, and its rear camera now supports ProRes video recording and Smart HDR 4. As for the thinner form factor, the 13-inch iPad Pro (which starts at £1,299/$1,299 with 256GB of storage) is 5.3mm thick - down from 6.4mm - and weighs 579g, while the 13-inch model (£999/$999) is 5.1mm and weighs 444g.

Elite Dangerous studio Frontier Developments has signed a deal with Universal Products & Experiences to make third Jurassic World title - and it'll be one of three new management games coming from the studio over the next few years.

While Frontier hasn't explicitly referred to the new game as Jurassic World Evolution 3, it seems unlikely it'll be anything else given the studio goes on to note its Jurassic World Evolution series is currently one of the strongest in its portfolio. Jurassic World Evolution 1 & 2 rank first and second respectively in terms revenue generated over their first two years - and that's despite Frontier previously admitting to "lower than expected" sales for the sequel on PC.

All Frontier has so far said about its next Jurassic World game is that it'll be another "creative management simulation" - and that it's one of three management sims the studio is planning on releasing over the next three consecutive years.

It's been a funny few weeks for Helldivers 2; one day it was riding high on its well-deserved success, the next it was being reviewed bombed into oblivion after Sony decided to foist mandatory PSN accounts on PC players. But now that drama is starting to subside following a dramatic U-turn, all thoughts have turned to one thing: was the review bomb cape developer Arrowhead's CEO Johan Pilestedt previously hinted at real? It would certain seem so.

Talk of a review-bomb-inspired Helldivers 2 cape, if you're a little behind on events, first surfaced as fans celebrated Sony's U-turn on Tuesday - an unexpected reversal that followed one hell of a weekend for Helldivers 2, in which Arrowhead's was unusually, publicly frank about its frustration with Sony and its handling of the PSN situation, and in which over 200,000 negative Steam reviews, mass refunds, and an absolute mess of a situation in territories where PSN was unavailable finally forced Sony's hand.

As the drama began to subside, Pilestedt took to social media to share a community created cape design - featuring four red vertical lines mirroring those of Helldivers 2's Steam review sentiment graph during the review bombing - offhandedly remarking when asked if it would become "a thing", that, "The team is talking about a good name for it right now." It just wasn't entirely clear to what degree he was joking. And it turns out he (probably) wasn't joking at all.

Assassin's Creed Shadows pre-orders are "looking very strong".
That's according to notable – and often accurate – leaker Tom Henderson, who claims that "no one in the know [at Ubisoft] is disappointed" with the number of pre-orders the highly-anticipated action-RPG has secured so far.
"Assassin's Creed Shadows pre-orders are looking very strong," Henderson said in his full, if brief, statement on Twitter/X. "I don't have the exact numbers yet, but no one in the know is disappointed with them."

Less than 18 months after it was first rolled out, Tesla is allegedly pulling Steam support from its vehicles.
Back in December 2022, Tesla confirmed games like Cuphead, Sonic, and Cyberpunk 2077 could be played as part of a native beta Steam app in the company's S and X models.
Now, according to Electrek, the company is seemingly reversing that decision.

                    • Capcom is once again remaking Resident Evil 1.
That's according to noted horror genre leaker Dusk Golem and survival horror YouTuber Biohazard Declassified, both of whom have stepped up this weekend with rumours that Capcom is looking to breathe new life into the game that started it all, the very first Resident Evil.
Biohazard Declassified says they received an anonymous email that claims the game – with the working title, Biohazard: Resident Evil 1 – will be slower paced than RE2 Remake, feature a "different this person camera", and explore RE1's lore "further".

                      • Even without the whole PSN debacle, Helldivers 2 has had hectic few months, with developer Arrowhead pumping out wild, game-changing updates at a furious pace. But it looks like the studio is finally ready to ease off a bit, and has said it feels a "slightly lower [update] cadence... will benefit both us, you, and the game."

Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt first hinted at some adjustments to the studio's current development strategy at the start of May, when he said he would be talking to the team about in-game balancing, agreeing that changes had perhaps "gone too far" in recent months. And another strategy shift has now been confirmed by Helldivers 2 community manager Twinbeard on Discord (thanks PC Gamer) when discussing an ETA on the game's next update.

"We want to take some more time for this one and potentially between future patches," Twinbeard explained, "since we feel cadence has probably been a bit too high to be able to maintain the quality standard we want and you deserve."

                        • A Mortal Kombat YouTuber and modder is accusing Warner Bros of "threatening to destroy" his YouTube channel.
In a lengthy statement on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, ToastedShoes – an Australian YouTuber with 800K subscribers and 1.7m followers on TikTok – claims he has received an "Intellectual Property Infringement Notification" directly from Warner Bros which asks him to delete "all Mortal Kombat 1 videos from [his] channel or else".
"This morning I received an IP infringement notification directly from Warner Brothers stating that the Mortal Kombat mods in my content 'infringe' on their intellectual property rights," Toasted said. "I've been requested to delete all Mortal Kombat 1 videos from my channel or else they will issue copyright strikes and essentially delete my channel in its entirety.

                          • Xbox Game Studios has reportedly signed a deal to publish the first project from Hundred Star Games, the new studio established by Rocksteady co-founders Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker.

Hill and Walker announced their departure from Batman Arkham studio Rocksteady in October 2022, and Hundred Star Games was founded the following April. However, the pair's connection to the studio wasn't spotted until early this year, alongside the discovery a "handful of lead developers and director-level ex-Rocksteady employees" was already working there.

While little official is known about Hundred Star Games' activities to date - aside from its stated aim of employing a "small team of only 100 industry veterans and emerging talents" - reliable leaker eXtas1s now reports Microsoft's Xbox Game Studios has signed on the dotted line to publish and finance the developer's first title.

                            • Eyes up, Guardian – The Final Shape DLC has leaked online after the expansion was temporarily available earlier today.
As reported dozens of times in the Destiny 2 subreddit community and beyond, "the entire" The Final Shape DLC was "playable" – although some say this is an exaggeration and the content was merely accessible – until, eventually, developer Bungie "killed" the servers.
Unfortunately, this was not before spoilers about the story, raid, trophies, loot, and more – much, much more – swamped social media and online communities. It appears the content became available after yesterday's scheduled maintenance.

                              • Embark has pushed out a hotfix for The Finals, addressing the extraordinarily frustrating exploit that enabled players to track opponents through walls.
In a brief update on the official website, the team said the update was designed "for many of the issues introduced in Update 2.10.0" earlier in the week, starting with the broken aim assist to "prevent tracking enemy contestants through objects such as walls, terrain, etc".
The hotfix also fixes enemy healthbars – they were not only persisting on screen longer than intended, but also popped up through walls and terrain, too – and another issue where players couldn't track contracts in rookie/challenger/pro/master circuits.
