  • It's now been five years since Ubisoft's beleaguered Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake was originally revealed, and a little over a year since the publisher last popped up to remind us all the project was still alive. But here we are again, 12 months on, with another brief update, this time letting fans know the remake remains "deep" in development.

    • Sometimes you just know something to be true. Do I want to eat a pizza right now? Yes. Is Hot Rod the greatest Transformer? Yes. Am I going to be miserable when the temperature climbs above 22 degrees celsius? Yes. Is my sleep going to suffer because of a big event happening tomorrow? Yes. Is the Switch 2's battery life too short? Yes.

      • With Borderlands 4's September release inching closer, publisher Take-Two has announced pricing and a variety of special editions for the shooter. And there's good news for anyone worried an $80 price tag might be on the cards following all that recent hoo-ha; the standard edition does not, it turns out, cross Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford's "real fan" threshold.

        • Unreal Fest 2025 kicked off with an impressive demonstration of how The Witcher 4 developers CD Projekt Red are getting to grips with Unreal Engine 5. The 14-minute tech demo features lush forest landscapes, detailed character rendering and impressive hardware RT features, all running at 60fps on a base PlayStation 5. It's one of the most visually ambitious projects we've seen for current-gen consoles even at this early stage, and we wanted to learn more about how the demo was created.

          • Quietly in the background, plausible technical specifications for Sony's next generation handheld have come to light. Bearing in mind that we're likely years away from release, the plausibility of these specs has to be questioned but at the same time, the source of the leak - KeplerL2 - has proven to be a highly reliable source for all sorts of AMD information. He was also first to corroborate the PlayStation 5 Pro spec leaks and his information turned out to be very, very close to what we received as final hardware. His Sony handheld specs are unusually detailed for a project so far out, but to be fair, they do lack highly important context: the chip at the heart of the machine is built on AMD's new graphics architecture - known by some as UDNA - but nobody quite knows what it is capable of. Therefore, getting a grip on what this machine is capable of will prove challenging.

              • You might not believe it based on the score, but I was fully in MindsEye's corner during the runup to launch. There was a time when cover shooters and city-sized driving games were wearyingly common, but at a time when every action game is a soulslike, a roguelite, a live-service multiplayer shooter, or Doom, the good old fashioned GTA clone is a rare treat indeed.

                      • Grounded 2 won't have local multiplayer support, just as there wasn't - and still isn't - LAN support in the current Grounded game. "We can confirm that Grounded 2 will be consistent with the prior game and does not support LAN multiplayer," a spokesperson from Obsidian told Eurogamer. I asked for an explanation why but was told Obsidian had nothing further to share.

                        • In a world where the dividing line between a handheld game and a Big Telly game is entirely down to personal preference, it might seem redundant to single out TRON: Catalyst for praise as being particularly good on portables. But it is. It has the feel of a really good PSP or DS era tie-in game. It's engineered for compactness and bite-sized play sessions, with simple controls, short quests, and concise story beats. And its compactness is reflected in the price. There's no mistaking Catalyst's modest, indie budget. Its scope and ambition, however, are anything but modest.

                              • Just a day after its launch, the Gex Trilogy - which bundles together the cult-classic 90s platformer Gex and its two sequels - has officially been deemed a success. And publisher Limited Run Games is celebrating the occasion by reinstating a conspicuously absent audio feature that should please European series fans no end.
