    • The launch of a new live season is hard, and subtle changes to a game can have massive consequences when players get their hands on it. Wardogs proved this true with the launch of its second season this week, as players were able to unlock tanks on day one.

        • You can smell it in the air can't you? Feel the chill in your nostrils and the earthy scent as leaves fall and the sun departs for another year? Yes, autumn is here, meaning we're teetering on the cavernous hole of near-nothingness as the entire games industry gives GTA 6 the widest berth imaginable. But that doesn't mean there isn't stuff to be excited about, of course. And the latest edition of the Galaxies Showcase has chucked a few more things onto the 'ooooh intriguing!' pile. Was all this really just an excuse for Connor to enthuse about penguins? Perhaps!

            • Hello and welcome back to our regular feature where we write a little about the games we've been playing. This week, Connor plays a classic, and ticks it off his bucket list; Sherif isn't sure about a first-person shooter foray into Soulslikes; Matt visits a South Pacific island volcano and Jim Henson's Labyrinth, all in one game; and Bertie discovers that playing D&D with kids is enormously entertaining.

              • I'd nearly forgotten Over the Hill's predecessor, Art of Rally, was a racing game. But that's not meant as a slight. It's just that, for all the happy hours I poured into it, I don't recall doing a single race. Instead, it was the aimless meandering, the soothing rhythms of exploration and absent-minded collectible hunting in its free-roam mode that held me transfixed. So the fact Over the Hill completely jettisons the racing stuff and leans entirely into the meditative bit - it even starts with a golden Buddha statue running you through the basics, which probably tells you everything you need to know - is exactly my kind of thing.

                          • "Let me be honest from the start: nobody was waiting for this. The world has many needs, and a Game Boy cartridge with no game inside it was not high on the list." So begins Dr Marcel Pflug's explanation for one of the most unexpected projects I've come across in a while: a Game Boy reference museum that isn't just a Game Boy reference museum; it's one that works on a Game Boy cartridge.
